About ColourBurned Design
What is ColourBurned?
The term Colour Burning refers to a blending method used in digital image editing. The technical process is to divide the inverted bottom layer by the top layer (the layer with the effect applied) and then invert the result. This darkens the top layer and increases the contrast to reflect the colour of the bottom layer. The darker the bottom layer’s values are, the more that layer’s colour values are applied. Using white causes the effect to be ignored. This brings rich colours and a deep feel to the contrast and colour levels.
The reason I chose this as a name is that it is one of my favourite blending effects. You can see these effects in my header image where the dark colours seem to burn into the lighter background. The resulting colour effect is so rich I’m sure you can see why I love this blending mode so much.

About Josh...
On my free time I do a lot of biking, mountain climbing, swimming, parkour, and practicing guitar. I’ve spent quite a bit of time investing myself into martial art training. Some of my favourite styles are Muay Thai, Submission Grappling, Kashima Shin-ryu JuJutsu, Kodokan Judo, and KFM. I can’t say I’m much of a sports guy, but I love going to live hockey and football events in Nashville.
I currently work at Peak 10, Inc. I do support for anything from server reboots, to build outs and installations. The nice thing about working there is that I get the chance to do more of the physical layer components in technology that I don’t get a chance to play with as a developer and designer. Opportunities in server administration and hardware troubleshooting help me to have a greater understanding of computers and networking. Giving me a diverse grasp of development as a whole.
